I'm cycling across Sydney to turn type one into type none!
Our Journey – Riding for Type 1 Diabetes
This ride is more than just kilometres on the bike—it’s something deeply personal.
I live with Type 1 diabetes. It’s a condition that doesn’t switch off. Every day involves constant decision-making—monitoring blood glucose, managing insulin, balancing food, and adapting to training and daily life. Even with experience, it remains unpredictable.
Over time, endurance sport has become an important part of how I manage it. Training helps bring structure and discipline to the condition—it improves stability, but it also requires careful planning and constant adjustment. What works one day doesn’t always work the next.
I’ve spent many years involved in endurance sport, and it continues to shape how I approach both training and managing T1D.
This ride is an opportunity to channel that experience into something meaningful. The 135km ride is from Parramatta Park travelling across Sydney.
I’m riding to support research that aims to make life easier for people living with Type 1 diabetes—and ultimately to help find a cure. The progress made so far has been significant, but there is still more to be done.
If sharing this journey helps raise awareness, or contributes in some small way to better outcomes for others living with T1D, then it’s worth it.
Thank you for your support.
