Unique ideas to kickstart your Breakthrough T1D fundraising
Arts & crafts stall
If you or your friends have a creative streak, why not make some artworks and sell them at a local market. Think jewelry, paintings, greeting cards, candles etc.
Board games evening
Invite family and friends over for a game of scrabble or monopoly. Charge everyone an entrance fee. Provide snacks and a (donated) prize for the winners.
Collection tins
Request collection tins from Breakthrough T1D to place on the counter of a busy business. Think office reception desks, gyms, your local supermarket or newsagent etc.
Footy tipping comp
Run a footy tipping competition where you charge people to enter with the winner getting half the proceeds and the other half being donated to Breakthrough T1D.
Girls night in
Charge for entry. Try to get a local catererto donate their services! Get some wine donated. Sell raffle tickets or have a lucky door prize. If you invite 30 girlfriends, that’s $900.
Sausage sizzle
Host a sausage sizzle at your local shopping centre, sports ground, or Bunnings. Check council regulations first, and ask local butchers and bakers to donate meat and bread.

Paul & Jano's Journey to Cure T1D
"In May 2024, we brought together 13 dedicated cyclists for a 130km ride from Bella Vista to Bowral, honouring our close friend, Sebastian Stafford. Sebastian passed away in September 2023 due to diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), and we wanted to do something meaningful in his memory - something that would raise awareness of type 1 diabetes (T1D) and its impact. In its first year, our ride raised over $45,000 for Diabetes Australia and Breakthrough T1D."
"Our Journey to Cure T1D is more than just a ride. It’s a movement. It’s about proving that no one faces this disease alone, that together, we can push through every challenge, and that one day, we will find a cure."
