In Loving Memory - Catherine (Cathy) Joy Howard
In Loving Memory of my Beautiful Mum Catherine (Cathy) Joy Howard. 10.08.2016 Rest In Peace, An Angel returned too soon but forever youthful in our hearts and minds just as she would have wanted.
Why did you dye your hair Blue? I've heard it a lot over the past few years, I've always been able to answer and explain my support for Type 1 Diabetes Research and the Go Blue for T1D fundraiser initiated by JDRF, but Today I'm going to go a little deeper into the path I've taken and the Beautiful Woman who guided me.
The following message is a message of the impact Cathy (Mum) has made in my life.
Should you choose to support this cause, please know the donations go directly to JDRF (name change in progress, Soon to be Breakthrough T1D) the leading supporter of Type 1 Diabetes research in the world,

My Mum was the most Loving and Caring Mother in the world, she was an only child and had dreamed of a big family her whole life, she successfully raised 7 children (3 girls and 4 boys) and has been a Guardian Angel both physically and spiritually for 12 grandchildren (6 girls and 6 boys). I was lucky enough to be brought into this world by a woman who had a heart with a wealth immeasirable and unmatched , she left this plain and rightfully claimed her place among the Angels.
Her passing was never going to be easy, however, she left before her time, but the mark she left in our hearts will never be lost and live through her children, grandchildren and beyond, her passing was the biggest lost for our family, her friends and this world.
I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at 18, a crucial time in my life into adulthood, Mum passed soon after I was diagnosed, I struggled immensely with the loss of my Mum, Psychologist, Nurse, Mentor and Best Friend, the journey I encountered was a trial by fire, I have unfortunately suffered with undescribable pain both physically and mentally and there were times when I fell and fell hard, My initial grief was already difficult, the additional strength and energy required to deal with the corrosponding struggles of life that followed her passing such as a life long disease (T1D), PTSD, Bilateral Brachial Plexopathy, ADHD and other Psychological issues, her memory and spiritual presence in my life helped guide me back in the right direction time after time. She will forever remain a source of strength and wisdom for my life and many others,
(Potential Trigger Warning - This contains partial details of her final days and moments - not intended for pitty but for clarity on her impact and personal guidance for this cause).
I was the one who found my Mum after I returned home from work (I will spare the details of the events that followed), however on the way to Emergency Department at the Hosptial, I held her hand and asked her to squeeze my hand if she could hear me, she squeezed, I then spoke to her letting her know her impact and importance to Me, my Brothers, my Sisters and Dad, I explained how much we all needed her and loved her, I expressed my gratitude for her and I apologised for all of the silly arguments and disagreements, I told her to be strong because we all couldn't survive without her in our lives and reassured her that we all truthfully had the greatest Mother in the universe, as we approached the Hospital I asked her to squeeze again to confirm she had heard me, she sqeezed, My Dad arrived in Emergency shortly after and the diagnosis was identified as a stroke, Dad notified my Brothers and Sisters who lived scattered across Australia, as soon as they could get a flight they were by her side, as the condition progressed in a downwards spiral she passed away with her Husband and each and every one of her Children by her side until the very end. Her abilities were vast, but her ability to unite our family was always a sight to behold, in her final days she was once again able to reunite our entire family, providing us the ability to support and be supported by the ones who understood our grief the most, we all were able to grieve together over the coming days, stories were shared, memories were cherished and tears were shed,
Mums ability to unite us was incredible, her influence to rally support for one another was inspiring and her impact on my life and countless others brings me happiness to know her memory lives on and thrives each and every day.
My Mum reinforces my belief that unity is an essential key to moving forward in life, if we work together and support each other in the hard times we have an infinitely better chance to achieve something momentus.
If you have made it this far into this message, I want to thank you for your support (whether you donate or not) I appreciate you for taking the time to listen to what I have to say and joining me on this step of my journey.
