Niamhs T1DM

It's been a year since Niamhs diagnosis with type 1 diabetes. Since then she has needed insulin to help convert her sugars to energy :) . That day she got diagnosed with diabetes lives in my head etched so clear, - a phone call from the Dr saying- your daughter has a blood sugar of 30 she needs insulin NOW.

Every day/ hour we are on our toes as parents looking after our 6 year old girl. 
Having to control everything she eats is tactical and tricky- 
- theres a lot that goes on in the daily management, the pain of not being able to replace her pancreas with a new one is our reality.

Type 1 diabetes is genetic and its unknown of the cause and no cure as yet.

 BREAKTHROUGH T1D (formally known as JDRF) are world leaders in type 1 diabetes research and they hold fundraisers to aid in research to find a cure for this autoimmune condition.

All I can say is I hate heights and I've never wanted to jump out of a plane. But to raise money to help any chance my daughter has of get a better quality of life- I will do it- to me she faces so much more than this and puts on the bravest face you have ever seen when it comes to needles and having to experience high and low blood sugars and getting sick. I just want to take it all away- but I can't and  I feel this is something I can do to help raise awareness and bring a smile to her face.

A )  research towards a cure for type 1 diabetes 

And

B ) if we make our goal of $1500, I will be jumping out of a plane with other type 1 diabetes supporters in aid of research/raising awareness on October 26th 2025. 

Most importantly ....

C ) Niamh will be so excited!!!! 


Thank you for reading and if you notice excessive thirst, increased urinary frequency/incontinence and/or increased hunger in your child please go get a urine test/blood test done for them- they are the symptoms Niamh had and can be easily missed and dire if not treated timely xo
