Living with Type 1 Diabetes
I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2017, and since then it’s been a daily part of my life. I’m insulin-dependent, which means I take four injections a day. To help manage my glucose levels, I use a continuous glucose monitor (Dexcom G7) and I’m looking forward to trialling Omnipod pods soon.
Living with diabetes is not easy — it has its highs and lows, and there’s never really a break. It’s something you carry with you 24/7.
That said, thanks to the incredible advances in technology, managing type 1 diabetes has become far more comfortable than it used to be. Devices like CGMs and insulin delivery systems give so much more freedom and peace of mind.
Of course, the reality is that the cost of these technologies is still quite high, which can be challenging. But overall, I’m grateful for the tools available today that make living with type 1 diabetes more manageable.

I'm jumping out of a plane to support Breakthrough T1D in their mission to find a cure for type 1 diabetes (T1D).
