I am so incredibly grateful for the support during this fundraiser.

I am so, so grateful for the support I have received in the past eight days - yep in only eight days you have all raised nearly $1000.

It is phenomenal and I don't know how to express how thankful I am. 
With the clothes swap event tonight, and only $541 remaining to raise until I qualify for the skydive, I am confident enough will be raised. 

The research, resources, and advocacy that comes from JDRF is unmatched. 
They advocated for continuous glucose monitors (CGM's) to be subsidised for all people with type 1 diabetes. This means that I have the option of the type of technology I can use to better manage and be aware of my blood sugar levels without the limitation of cost. Previously CGM's were only subsidised for under 18's and for during pregnancy. The way I would have to prick my finger to check my blood sugar each time I wanted to eat, or felt a little *off*, or if I wanted to exercise. 
Needless to say I am very grateful to not have to do that anymore. 
CGM's are not without their own individual challenges though. The physical awareness of constantly having something attached to me, the marks from the cannula, the adhesive, the bruises from if the cannula nicks a blood vessel, some times the CGM glitches out and an alarm goes off in the middle of the night saying I'm low when I'm not. But all of that is bearable because of the freedom and the information I get from it. 

All of this to say, your money is going to a good place and will actually lead to something helpful for those of us living with type 1 diabetes.

Yep! Seriously! If I raise $1500 before Valentine's day I get to participate in the JDRF JUMP CHALLENGE 

Money raised goes towards research into finding treatment options and a future cure for type 1 diabetes. 

It would be so nice to not to have to think and act as a pancreas for the rest of my life. 

Encouragingly, there is really good research happening, just need it to keep going.

I'm jumping out of a plane to support JDRF in their mission to find a cure for type 1 diabetes (T1D).

T1D can strike anyone at any time (struck me at age 28), and 8 Australians are diagnosed every day. Diagnosis means a 24/7 fight with no break and facing an extra 180 decisions a day to remain safe and healthy. JDRF is the largest funder of T1D research in the world with a vision to create a world without T1D.
