I'm jumping for a great cause!
6 weeks ago my world to put simply was turned upside down. I went from struggling and flighting a battle of exhaustion just trying to get through and finish a shift to taking myself to a walk in clinic thinking I had a ‘simple fix’ problem. Little did I know I would urgently be sent to Emergency to hear and experience something no one ever thinks they would hear, let alone at my age.
The night of my diagnosis, I remember immediately feeling so alone and ashamed because of the stigma and lack of education. I felt embarrassed, all I could do was process the information bit by bit and just cry, I sat on the phone to family in silence, in shock of what I had just been told, I was absolutely frozen. My journey thus far definitely hasn’t been easy; from battling constant high blood sugar, having to stop myself from eating when I was genuinely hungry, to then constantly being low and having to force feed myself to the point I was eating myself sick to raise my blood sugar.
Truthfully this disease is awful I wouldn’t wish it upon anyone.
To play my part I am partaking in the Blue Army Breakthrough T1D fundraiser. Raised funds go towards finding a cure for Type 1 Diabetes. I truly hope one day we can find a successful cure for those battling this condition. It’s not easy, I see you and genuinely hope we can all get through it together.
I have a goal of raising $1500, Other ways of showing your support would simply be sharing this post or wearing blue over the month of November as that it the month to bring the much needed awareness to this condition.
