Janaya & Her Camel: Walking 50KM for Type 1 Diabetes Awareness

By Janaya Felton

I’m fundraising for Breakthrough T1D to defeat T1D!

This June and July, Janaya will walk 50 kilometres alongside her camel, Crazy Cat 🐪, to raise awareness and funds for families living with Type 1 Diabetes.

Proudly supported by J&J Rodeo, this unique initiative combines heartfelt storytelling, community connection, and a powerful visual journey to shine a light on the daily realities of Type 1 Diabetes.

The campaign is deeply personal to Janaya and her family. Her son, Jack, lives with Type 1 Diabetes a condition that requires constant management, resilience, and strength every single day.

The message behind the walk is simple but powerful:

“If Jack can do hard things every day, so can we.”

Throughout June and July, Janaya and Crazy Cat the camel will complete the 50KM challenge through a series of farm walks, community appearances, and public meet-and-greets, inviting families, schools, businesses, and supporters to walk beside them and help make a difference.

The initiative aims to:

  • Raise awareness of the daily challenges of Type 1 Diabetes
  • Fundraise for Breakthrough T1D
  • Share a real and relatable story that connects with people across Australia.

Supporters will be able to donate, purchase raffle tickets, and follow the journey through social media updates, behind-the-scenes content, and live storytelling throughout the initiative . The raffle winner will be drawn on August 1st at the Bucks & Trucks Event.

The initiative will officially launch with a video introducing Janaya, Jack, Crazy Cat, and the story behind the 50KM challenge, alongside local and national media outreach focused on the campaign’s strong human-interest angle.

With support from J&J Rodeo and the wider community, the goal is to create meaningful impact, raise vital funds for research, and remind families living with Type 1 Diabetes that they are not walking alone.”
