Christian’s PreKindy class fundraiser for T1D

St Andrew’s Prekindy class is going blue for Breakthrough T1D on Friday 14th Nov

Christian’s Prekindy class is going blue on Friday 14th November 2025 to raise funds through breakthrough T1D for research to find a cure for type one diabetes and to create more awareness and education! The whole school is going blue on Wednesday 19th November 💙

We would love for the children to wear their favourite blue top/clothes or blue accessories etc and if you would like to donate you can bring a gold coin donation on the day to the classroom or donate online. We have created an online fundraiser so you have the option to donate online directly to Breakthrough T1D organisation.

Currently the school has 3 students (including christian) with type one diabetes. There is currently no cure for type one. Type one is an auto immune disease that is with you for life and is only managed by multiple daily insulin injections or a pump and 24/7 decision making to survive each day. Some of you may know that Christian was diagnosed in January this year, he was in fatal levels of diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), a week in ICU at the children’s hospital and then Christian’s whole life changed, including his family. The signs and symptoms were similar to a virus or infection. There is no early detection for type one diagnosis to prevent DKA, but there is research and testing happening. You can get diagnosed at any age in your life with or without family history of type one. 

A big Thank you to all the teachers, EAs and kids in Christian’s prekindy class of 2025 in term 3&4 this year for being so understanding and supportive to Christian, it’s so beautiful to see!😃💙
