One Run

Week 4 is deload week (thank god!)

Struggled a bit more with the sugar levels whilst running last week but still managed to get through most of it. Here's an image from my run last Friday - was running high for a few hours and then of course at the 4km mark it just tanked,

Almost at the end of week four now and it's been a pretty hard week for me energy-wise. I've still gotten through two runs and one strength session so hoping I can push through the weekend for the last two sessions 🤞💪

I also had a session with my amazing Diabetes Educator last week and she's given me some more tips for managing the sugars whilst running. Hopefully that will help as we start getting back into longer runs next week.

Week 4 - run 2: 12/09/25
Distance: 4.02km
Time: 34.01
Avg pace: 8:26
Splits: 8:43, 8:25, 8:34, 8:06

Week 4 - run 1: 09/09/25
Distance: 3.23km
TimeL 30:32
Avg pace: 9:26
Splits: 9:01, 8:53, 9:52

Hit the 5K continuous!

It's been a goal of mine for a very long time to be able to continuously run 5km consistently. It's been probably a few years since I've done a 5km without stopping, and it was always kind of a one-off situation.
On Saturday I ran a hilly 5km without stopping! So this is the first step in my goal and now I just need to be able to repeat it :)

I've been logging my runs with my Samsung watch (a bit old, not too sure of reliability) and strava on my phone (generally phones not as reliable as watches) and the splits have been pretty different. Usually I've been going off my watch but it decided to stop my run at 4.82km instead of the actual 5.2 :'(
So here are my Strava stats:
Sat 30/08/25 - Week 2, run 3 (long hilly)
Distance: 5.4km
Avg pace: 8:15/km
Time: 44:33
Splits: 8:03, 8:15, 8:52, 7:56, 8:15, 7:56

Week 2!

Week 2 is off to a much less rainy start than last week (woohoo!). I decided Monday needed to be a rest day after a challenging hike on the weekend, so Tuesday morning bright and early was run 1 for the week. I felt pretty steady on this one until the end where I may have cut it a tiny bit short as I was busting for the loo 😅

Week 2, Run 1 - 26/08/25
Total distance: 3.72Km
Time: 33:37
Average pace: 9:02/km
Splits: 8:55, 8:53, 9:10, 9:11

A little rainy...

I have a super busy week this week as I am going hiking on the weekend, so I knew that I needed to fit a run in before work on Thursday. Unfortunately it's the rainiest week in Sydney's recent history so there was no getting around the rain.
The highlight was going through an underpass where I'm near a main road and getting full-body dumped on by cars...twice 😅

Total distance: 3.57km
Time: 34.01
Ave pace: 9:32
Splits: 8:38, 10:16, 9:44, 9:12

I'm challenging myself with an 8-week program to run 10k, while supporting type 1 diabetes research!

For those of you who know me, you know that I've been talking about getting better at running for way too long. In true Chelsea style, I am chucking myself in the deep end and we're just gonna see what happens.

I've been a type 1 diabetic for 18 years. Some days it's just a part of life and other days it's really, really hard. T1D has such a huge impact on my life, and on the lives of my many T1D friends, so I would really appreciate your support.

I'm taking on an 8-week running program to help turn type 1 into type none - and smash 10K!

Why? To help fund life-changing research aimed at improving lives and curing type 1 diabetes.

Type 1 diabetes can strike anyone at any time, and 8 Australians are diagnosed every day. Diagnosis means a 24/7 fight with no break and facing an extra 180 decisions a day to remain safe and healthy.

Please support my run today!
