Road to Research
I'm Cam - also known as Cameron, George or "Hey Dad, where's my..." and I'm joining Mark and James (and Scott) in their epic adventure!
Why am I riding Road to Research from Lourdes to Lord’s? To put it simply: peer pressure... and a serious shortage of common sense. But also — and more importantly — to support two incredible mates whose families deal with the relentless reality of Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) every single day.
T1D doesn’t clock off. It’s a 24/7 job without breaks, holidays, or cheat days. The grit and resilience these families show has inspired me to get on the bike and show up for them.
This ride is long. The physical demands are real: long hours on the bike, ruthless climbs, pushing through the pain.... but that is nothing compared to the resilience these families - and so many more like them - show everyday.
So, I’m pedalling hard — not just for the challenge, but for a cause that desperately needs more attention, more support, and more funding. This journey is about grit, hope and conquering challenges, together. We're not just chasing the finish line, we're riding for something bigger. To raise awareness, to raise funds, and — let’s be honest — to eventually raise a very cold pint at the finish line.
