I'm jumping for a great cause!
I'm jumping out of a plane to support JDRF in their mission to find a cure for type 1 diabetes (T1D).
Today is World Diabetes Day.
After having Type 1 diabetes for 36 years, I have injected myself over 40,000 times and triple that in finger pricks.
Luckily, technology now enables me to only have one needle/site inserted every 3 days with an insulin pump, along with a lifesaving blood glucose sensor that monitors my blood sugar 24/7.
I am proud to wear my pancreas on the outside. It reminds me that I am a fighter, I will never give up and I am in control.
This jump is not only about raising money for a cure—it's for my daughter. I want her to know, and I tell her every day, that I would do anything for her. She is my reason. The reason I fight, and the reason I’ll never stop fighting. Every needle, every high and low blood sugar, and every day when I don’t feel my best, I keep going—for the incredible gift of life, and for my beautiful girl.
Finger's crossed a cure is not far away!
